MY LIFE IN YOUR HANDS

You told me if I left you you could murder me

I was driving, you said it so calmly

Like you were offering to make a cup of tea

I remember it so well it sent a shiver right through me.

Time passed you disrespected me and caused me so much pain

I never felt so alone, in my heart all it did was rain

I thought we had a special bond that nothing could break

It turned out you were just with me for what you could take

Near the end I knew I just had to get away

To try and save my life and my sanity

You knew how ill you made me but you didn’t care

All you ever wanted was to be the man out there

I finally found the courage to walk away from you

And although you didn’t want me you had to break me

You managed that in one night when you shattered me right through

I have all the pieces now and I KNOW what you meant to do

I met you at the hotel you took me to room 101

I remember it’s the number in my favourite film

I was excited to see you I believed you’d make it right

How wrong, when murder was on your mind that night

We danced the way we used to in our own sexy way

I thought “at last my miracle” was to be granted that day

We stopped for a drink and smoke sat on the end of the bed

Then you started accusations and messed up my head

I started to leave but your weren’t having that

You hit me in the mouth and it sent me flat

I started to scream you scared me so much

You wouldn’t let me leave the room, like an animal I was trapped

I crawled up the bed in an attempt to get away

I couldn’t stop from screaming I was terrified of you

You said you tried to stop my screams

But you didn’t do that, a hand across my mouth would have sufficed

You held your hand over my face and stifled my breath

The more I tried to get away the harder you gripped

Then you put the other hand on top and leant with all your weight

I couldn’t breathe I was gonna die and you wouldn’t stop your hate

I struggled and struggled till I could no more

Then I let you have what you said you had paid for

The tears were running down my cheeks

I just wanted to survive

Then at last you stopped sat on the bed and cried

I grabbed my things and ran like hell

But you weren’t far behind

Not satisfied with all you’d done you had to follow me

You pushed me, shoved me and degraded me

To the ultimate degree

That night you stole from me my last shred of integrity

People tell me I should be glad to be alive

But I don’t feel that way

Its an effort to survive

I don’t know why I lived that night

I still cant find the light

But I do know one thing

The most precious gift of all

There are people who love me

And will help me to my goal

I know I just have to reach out

To feel their strong hands

And all the love that’s in their hearts

Will help me find life’s plan.
